Chris Bortner and Alex Turner

Married at Cochino Lodge

The sisterhood of women was  beyond organized.  They got their ideas together several weeks before the wedding.  The Bride  described her basic artistic design for the wedding and reception and the 'sisters'  ran with her ideas , melded with theirs and  it was beautiful magic.  The women of both sides of the families remembled each other so much that it was hard to know which belonged to what side of the family.  A beautiful group of women who will be such great mentors for the new couple.  The Men of both sides were handsome and helpful. They did the heavy work and the cooking. Delicous food.  The cake was also made by a man of great artistic talent....I was delighted to meet the owner of That Guys Cakes the cake artist for this wedding.  What a great cake designer and one that makes the cakes delicious as well.  I hope to see him again soon at Cochino.  The wedding was held on the North Deck where the many guests witnessed a beautiful wedding. Brother of the Bride was the officiant of the wedding ceremony and he did a beautiful presentation. I can foresee that he will do great things in uniting and inspiring new couples and congregations.  There were grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, brothers and sisters. Some came as far as from Maryland to the oldest county in Texas. They witnessed the marriage in an historic area of Texas where the Caddo Indians hunted on the very grounds the wedding was held. The area is also considered a part of the  the El Camino Real corridor, the mother road of Texas, that welcomed our ancestors. We are in the Davy Crockett National Forest where the timber was harvested in the early 1900s and brought families from other states to carve out an existence here .  This area is just a few miles from the Boggy Slough Wilderness where you can witness an area where little has changed for years.   This very  site , where the young couple became Mr. and Mrs. Bortner, was  an old homestead where years ago a large family was raised .  They all had to work hard. They plowed  the land, raised what they ate, drank well water, made their own whiskey, went to the church that still stands at the entry of Cochino.  They had a simple but happy life. It was not complicated. May this new couple, Mr. and Mrs. Bornter  have a large family, a  life of  joy, peace, love and live happily forever after.
