Evans and Matthews Wedding at Cochino Lodge

Mr. and Mrs. Matthews

The Wedding weekend was one of those crisp Winter days that was expected and prepared for.
The main lodge, niches and alcoves were exquisitely decorated by the Placker Sisterhood of the brides family. Aunts, mothers, grandmothers,  cousins and nieces all worked together with great ideas and imaginations to make it happen just as the Bride and Groom desired.  I must admit that the men worked as well.  We can't leave them out for sure.    What a lot of talent and artistry that went on for 2 days.  The setting was in the oldest county in Texas. This old soil has seen a lot of life's events and is still seeing them   happening to this day. What a great testament to this is the marriage of  Hillery Evans  and Hunter Matthews.  They were surrounded by so many friends and family. This was such an elegant group and some came a great distance. Groveton, Centralia, Apple Springs, Cypress, Houston and Lufkin were all represented. Those who call Groveton and Trinity County-the place that they were raised-- always have great weddings and such interesting people. The ladies in attendance braved the weather beautifully in gorgeous fur coats and dressed to the nines. The Bride wore a full length fur coat as well with the beautiful wedding gown trimmed in feathers.   Sooo lovely.
The photographer was Gina Placker Guidrey (Aunt of the Bride)who did the bridals as well as the wedding photographs. She will share with us soon.  The Wedding Cakes of both the bride and groom were delicious and beautiful. Cookies by Kristal Evans Enyart (sister of the Bride) and Hilda Evans (Mom of the Bride) were beautiful and so delicious. Each cookie was handmade/painted.  Very special addition to any sweets table at a wedding. Floral Arrangements were everywhere. The family of sisters created the arrangements themselves of fresh flowers and a variety of greenery of which the
aroma of the eucalyptus filled the room. Laura Placker was the wedding coordinator.  She kept it all on time and in order. The delicious dinner was provided by Lufkin BBQ.  Everyone loves the yeast rolls with honey.  The wedding ceremony was provided by pastor Robert Langford.  This marked his 75th wedding to perform and several of them here at Cochino.   Amanda Aycock, a brides maid, played the piano  and sang during the wedding ceremony. She has a beautiful voice and is so talented. She is also a Cochino Bride.   I hope to hear her again soon at Cochino.

Dalton Gauthier was sound, music and event coordinator.  It all goes well with Dalton, he orchestrates it as the Bride and Groom so choose.

What a great way  to start the new year.  ….
