Livingston, Texas well represented at the Villarreal and Martin at Cochino Lodge

Mr. and Mrs. Martin

Two great families melding together with the marriage of their children Lizet and Matt --They were married at Cochino Lodge with  over 250 guests and family in attendance. The grooms dad, Greg, was with them in spirit. Greg had visited Cochino and was part of the planning process and greatly missed at the wedding.   The ambiance created by Lizet and her Mom, Becky and Sondra Gilbert  planning for months, then the arrival and  orchestration of the actual decorating put everything into a beautiful motion...with the help of even more Villarreal and Martin families and Sondra (Richard-husband and family) ready to go. Friends from far and near attended. South Louisiana was well represented with the Gullot, House, Luling, Passman and Landry   PLUS many more. These friends have attended all of each other's children's weddings  Such a fun group of friends who traveled hours to reach Cochino and the Celebration of the Wedding. Becky, mother of the groom, was from South Louisiana and had many friends who wished the new couple well. Jaren  Stoner, Archbold, Ohio, friend of the Groom, traveled  hours to get here.  A long time friend of the military days.  The Brides family, The Villarreals are from East Texas, San Antonio and McAllen. A huge group of family and friends who traveled great distances to be here to Celebrate. Such an enjoyable group. The parents of the Bride so delightful and friendly.
The Bride along with her sister Herlinda as well as Jennifer Barrows and her daughter Rebecca, did all the fresh flower arrangements for centerpieces and also the bouquets carried by the bridesmaids and Bride.  They were perfect. There were so many heritage items, from Matt Martin's grand parents and great grandparents, that the mother of the groom held on to for years just right for this occasion - that were brought to be included in the wedding:
Lizet wore the diamond pendant necklace that was Matt's grandmothers given to her by her husband on their 50th wedding anniversary.
A beautiful trunk for gifts that was  beautifully restored by family
A Lace handkerchief that Lizet carried,  belonged to Matt's great grandmother. This has been carried by all family members on their wedding day.
Silver Combs worn by many family members were there as well to see.
A vintage door was used for the ceremony backdrop.  It was made in 1910 that was the grandmother's and was on the home of Becky and Greg they began restoring in 1980.   Most important was the presence of Greg Martin's spirit in the Cypress Adirondack chair he had made. It was located at the entry of the walkway to the alter with a cross of branches adorning the chair. Every one was "greeted" by Greg. Many Adirondack chairs have been made by Greg and given as wedding gifts and for fund raisers. A lasting reminder of Greg's generosity.
The ceremony was in English and Spanish. The minister has been to Cochino times before Performing  wedding ceremonies. He is Lesly Wilkins, long time friend of Matt's   and is from Livingston. Great to see him again.
Matt was given his grandfather's wedding band during the exchange of rings.  Three of the young men in the wedding party served with  Matt in Iraq, Major James Harris and Matt's battle buddy Jaren Stoner . Matt and Lizet honored Pam and Dennis Moore and Harry and Mary Beth Ehny who were killed in battle in Iraq while serving with Matt.  The Moores from Livingston and the Ehnys from Kentucky.
The marriage of Matt and Lizet....A Truly blessed new family.

The Rehearsal  dining area was elegantly set up by Sondra Gilbert, of course Richard helped to get the many rectangular tables in place that they brought.  Sondra had beautiful pink blush cloths on each table set up on the Deck. Each table had several unique arrangements of decor with tiny lights, greenery and tiny adorable birds perched in each container. This was just beautiful.
Now for the Food. The reception food was abundant and delicious. Friends of the Groom, headed up by Ben Moseley, worked to make it the best yet. Even kept cooking into the night for a midnight snack.  Those guys had a great time. A great wedding gift.
For the Reception dinner, Here For the Party Cookers, with Greg Pearson at the helm, worked early till late making it happen. His crew included:  Regan Weigand, Keith and Cathy Barrett, Brit Weigand, Rocky Langston and Bruce Blough. They cooked a lot of delicious food that was so enjoyable. The crew was fun too. Seems like I had known them in another life, so friendly and on point. I hope to see them again at Cochino cooking for another crowd....and just to visit with them

Melissa Jernigan the artistic creator of the Bride and Groom's cake did a fantastic job. Cupcakes were beautiful too and both cakes were works of art. DELICIOUS, does not adequately describe them. Melissa visited days before the wedding to get an idea of the set up. Everyone enjoyed the cake and it was all eaten.  I hope to see her at Cochino again in the future. She is an artist.

Music and Dancing rounded out the festivities. Great Sounds produced great moves, fun and memories.

The celebration was photographed by Professional Photographer Lori Harris, of Wild Hare Photography, Livingston, TX.    Memories for a lifetime to cherish  were made by Lori. Not an event went uncaptured. From beginning to end the wedding was documented for all times.  Artistic and knows the best angles and captures the most unique.
