It all started back in early 2013, Marissa visited Cochino Lodge just to scout out things in anticipation of maybe having a wedding in the near future. Little did she know that a great surprise was waiting for her. Her finance, reached the destination before Marissa and surprised her by formally asking her to marry him. Of course he had the whole family in on the surprise and she said "YES"
The marriage vows of Marissa and Rodney took place at 6 PM on the East Lawn at the water's edge of the lake at Cochino. The pine trees on the opposite bank towered above the lake as the yon hillside climbed even higher. A great back drop with the water stretching to the tree line.
Father of the Bride had built a beautiful Arch-way and stage (and set up was assisted by Brent Forest and Daron Shelton)and it was set atop a grande stage that seemed to sit on the water. A flower unity cross with family adding to it as they sat down, was part of the ceremony as well. The old oak tree, that has seen time pass over the last 100 plus years, was the site of the memory 'tree' holding photographs of those who would be here 'if heaven were not so far away'. Its branches reached toward the heavens as if to send a message.
The decorative swag at the entry of the wedding walk was handmade of vintage materials and lace and burlap. A great novel ideal. Just beautiful. Over 200 guests witnessed the ceremony and enjoyed the reception.
The lodge was transformed into a very personal space. It had a very romantic and old world feel. Lace and many unusual fabrics went into the décor as well as layering. The use of burlap alongside lace and fine fabric made for a very different feeling of time. Most of the décor was handmade and had a familiar feel. One felt so at ease with the old and familiar. The ideas of the bride and her mother Tammy Jo, worked to make it happen. Kelly Cole and 5 beautiful daughters worked alongside the family bringing their ideas and labor to make it just perfect. Kelly Shelton orchestrated the wedding ceremony as she has done at Cochino before. Everything was punctual and perfect. Other family members and friends also made the voyage to Cochino to assist in any way. This made for a very easy going and laid back wedding day. The weather was perfect. It even waited to rain toward the end of the night.
Miss Candi's Cakes made a beautiful cake for the Bride as well as one for the groom. The brides cake was very large and was so delicious. It had fresh flowers and had the look that the Bride had ordered.
A first for Cochino was the Ice Cream Bar. Soft serve ice cream either in bowels or cones was offered. Many toppings, sprinkles, and delicious tidbits were available for enhancements. This went over soooooo well. A very popular gift to the guests.
A photo booth stayed busy throughout. This was the Cole Girl's responsibility. Old hats of Cochino's closets, various picture frames brought in
and other props made for a lot of fun and a memory to take away with them.
This wedding was a gathering of many guests who had been here recently. It is always nice to have familiar faces to revisit again at another wedding. Everyone knew most everyone, the workers knew where everything is located. The pace slows down. Some of the brides have been bridesmaids at more than one wedding at Cochino and even more as guests.
Guests spent the night at Cochino and slowly got up the next morning. Some planned to come back and catch all those fish that got away the day before. With each couple that marry at Cochino bringing their families and friends, there is a slight change that takes place at Cochino . Their ideas and presence meld with what has gone on before and this makes for a very interesting place that is always becoming something new and exciting. And just a little bit of everyone who has been here.
The Bride and Groom were both just adorable and so personable. The Families of both worked toward a beautiful wedding and IT HAPPENED !!! Just Perfect and so memorable. So many unique ideas that made Cochino all their own. Please enjoy the photographs.
