Kari Pickett became Mrs. Mark Spurgeon August 24, 2013 at Cochino Lodge

The wedding of Mr. and Mrs. Mark Spurgeon

What a great wedding and 3 day celebration the families and friends enjoyed. Guests came from Louisiana, Warsaw-Poland, San Diego, San Antonio and other points to enjoy not only a wedding but a great reunion of family members and friends. This wedding was a wonderful multi-enjoyable event. Décor and Food preparations began on Friday. BarBQ, by Jeff Johnson's Swamp Donkey, was begun Friday night and lasted throughout the night into the next day. Very delicious and enough food for a week.  Guests arrived on Saturday once again and  filled the cabins readying for the mid-afternoon wedding. The wedding began at 3 PM which allowed time for much celebrating and visiting. The décor was reflective of  the bride and groom's interests.  Nature, fish and most anything to do with the what goes on in, under  and around water since both are avid  divers.  The cake, made by the most artistic Katha Scott, echoed the couples love of water.....flowers, shells and shades of the sea   were incorporated into the  cake's design. A huge cake that was delicious. Seconds were had by guests who could not help themselves but to have larger slices of cake than the usual.  It is wonderful to have a designer cake and one that is delicious as well with very little left over.  Check out Katha Scott on facebook (Katha Scott) or go to my face book (Suzanne Steed under Wedding Cakes for Cochino) and get in touch.  Sister of the Bride designed and made the fruit displays.  A large turtle made of watermelon and filled with fruit, dolphins made of bananas in a sea of fruit with the heart melon rising in the back was delicious as well as beautiful.  Palm trees of vegetables adorned the tables with black olives along side. A very talented sister.   A treasure chest was placed at the entrance of the mid-deck for cards, a large bird's cage also flanked the side. A tropical ambiance floated throughout the deck as tulle blew in the wind creating that ocean side effect . Each table had a glass fish bowel filled with colorful stones and beautiful colorful fish, one to each bowel. These darted back and forth throughout the wedding and guests took them home. Great idea and so colorful.   The dance deck had a large rolling table with palm frons decorating the base and tubs of ice and drinks were plentiful and place atop of this. Colorful lights lit it all up  as night fell. Everything was twinkling, colorful and festive with dancing and visiting.  Families tired from the nights celebration made their way to their cabins at Cochino looking forward to the breakfast to be served at the 'head cabin' with the best cooks to be had. Great Celebration and a lot of memories made.

Beautiful Bride and Handsome Groom. Here are a few house photographs, looking for the professional photographer to send some later on.
